Wimbledon men’s doubles champion Jonny Marray will visit Brigshaw High School and Language College, Allerton Bywater, next Tuesday.
Sheffield-based tennis star Marray, who has just returned from the US Open Championship in New York, will present the school with two Acer B1 tablets which can be used by students to support their sports studies.
Brigshaw High won the Marray visit when they entered a competition earlier this year on the Acer stand at a leading education show. Acer is the exclusive IT sponsor of Marray.
“We are thrilled that Jonny is visiting the school. It’s a terrific start to the school year for our sports students to meet a Wimbledon champion,” says John Nee, leader for sport at Brigshaw High.
“The Acer tablets will be of great support for students. Tablets are increasingly used in education to motivate and encourage students in learning and discovery.”
Linda Hassall, head of marketing for Acer UK says: “Acer is absolutely dedicated to education - be it students or schools using our high spec, competitively priced products.
“One of Acer’s reasons for sponsoring Jonny was so that he could visit schools and motivate students. Acer’s philosophy is to explore beyond limits and people like Jonny are inspirational in helping young people to explore beyond their limits to achieve their goals.”
