Whiteley will give head coach James Webster more options along the backline, with a number of Rovers players sidelined through injury.

The York player has made two appearances this season, scoring two tries. He played in both of York's regular season meetings against Featherstone in 2019.

"We're really happy to have agreed a loan deal with York," said head of football, Ian Hardman.

"Perry coming in will add to our options in the back-line, which is an area we are currently short in due to injuries.

"It's also great to see Jake going the other way for some much-needed game time. As a club we're really grateful to Jon Flatman and James Ford for helping us get this deal done."

Whiteley added: "I'm so grateful for the opportunity, I can't wait to get stuck in and show what I'm about in what is a great environment at a great club."

Meanwhile, Featherstone have released Louis Sheriff.
