THE heroes of Featherstone's 1967 Challenge Cup victory take centre-stage at Sunday's game.
It will be exactly 40 years since Rovers’ Wembley win over Barrow and a dozen former players are dropping in to ensure celebrations go with a bang.
Colin Forsyth, Les Tonks, John Newlove, Brian Wrigglesworth, Jim Thompson, Gary Jordan, Keith Cotton, Vaughn Thomas, Tommy Smales, Colin Taylor, Arnie Morgan and Mick Smith are all on the guest list and club officials have also secured the loan of the original Challenge Cup trophy for the day.
Rovers’ league clash with Hunslet starts at 6pm but there is plenty to keep the fans interested before kick-off. The Challenge Cup clash between Wakefield and Bradford will be shown live in the clubhouse, followed by the first half of the 1967 final at 3.45pm.
The second half of Rovers’ 17-12 win will be screened at 5.15pm immediately after a special presentation to the club’s Wembley-winners.
The players will parade the cup on the pitch at half-time and will be available for autographs and photographs throughout the day.
