Agar confident Wakefield Wildcats can impress if they make Super League play-offs

On-song Wildcats sit one point and one position off the top-eight with two games to go thanks to a run of five straight wins.

On paper, the remaining fixtures look favourable for Agar’s troops, with rock-bottom Widnes Vikings visiting the Rapid Solicitors Stadium on Sunday (kick-off 6.45pm) before Wildcats finish off with a trip to 11th-placed Salford City Reds.

There’s still plenty of work to do for Wakefield to secure a top-eight place, but Agar says his men are more than capable of doing well in the post-season if they make it.

“If we go down the ladder, Wigan have beat us comfortably twice this year,” he said.

“I think we lost by a point at Warrington, we’ve beat Leeds, Catalans, Hull, St Helens and Huddersfield.

“That would suggest to me that if we were good enough to get that position then we’ve already proven this year that we can match some of them sides if we play well on our day.”

Wildcats need to overhaul Bradford Bulls for that eighth-place finish, while Hull KR, who sit in tenth, will continue to push until the last minute of the season.

Bulls host Hull FC this weekend and finish their season with a tough trip to Catalans Dragons.

The Robins face a tough home match against Wigan Warriors on Sunday and bring their campaign to a close at London Broncos.
