PENNINE League Division One pacesetters Methley Royals powered to an impressive 42-12 win at Batley Boys.
Adam Biscomb and Dave Williams each bagged two tries and Sam Payne landed seven goals from seven kicks to take his tally past 700 points for the Royals.
Methley overcame heavy conditions to lead 18-6 at half-time and never looked like relinquishing their grip in the second period.
Payne had two efforts ruled out for forward passes before Batley went ahead in the ninth minute with a somewhat fortunate try when a clearing kick by Royals full-back Dave Williams rebounded off the foot of home winger Rob Garforth who scooped up the ball to score a try that Adam Bingham goaled.
Methley hit back to lead 12-6 when Matty Handforth sent in Payne and Alan White sped over.
They shot further ahead shortly before half-time with a great try from scrum-half Andy Speake.
Batley quickly fell further behind in the second period when Adam Biscomb powered over from Handforth’s pass.
The Bulldogs flickered briefly when Matthew Sheridan’s try was goaled by Bingham but Methley finished the game firmly on top.
Biscomb grabbed his second try and Speake’s clever passes set up two tries for Williams.
Chris Woolford was again a key figure and John Hughes, Stu Biscomb, Reece Willshaw, Dave Gordon and Jake Turner were also outstanding.
There was also excellent work by Kris Ward, Josh Dixon, Tom Kaye and Matty Jackson.
Methley visit Brighouse Rangers on Saturday.
