Castleford Tigers Women beat Featherstone Rovers Ladies in opening Betfred Super League game

Castleford Tigers Women made a winning start to the new season when they came out on top 40-6 against local rivals Featherstone Rovers Ladies.

Kelsey Gentles, who crossed for a hat-trick of tries for Castleford Tigers Women in their first game of the new season against Featherstone Rovers Ladies.

In their first Betfred Women's Super League game for 18 months the Tigresses ran in seven tries with Rovers crossing the line once.

Kelsey Gentles led the way with a hat-trick of tries while Hollie-Mae Dodd crossed twice and there were further tries from Tamzin Renouf and Grace Field.

Leah Jones, making her debut at full-back, has taken over kicking duties this year and had a good day with the boot, landing six goals.

Rovers were 22-0 down at half-time, but did manage a try after the break through Brogan Churm with Jess Courtman adding a conversion.

The Tigresses had the final word, however, to give Kirsty Maroney and Marie Colley a win in their game in charge of the side.
