CASTLEFORD stand-off Rangi Chase has been cleared to help the Tigers in their bid to reach their first Challenge Cup final since they lost 28-12 to Wigan at Wembley in 1992.

The New Zealander had a two-game ban, imposed for punching during his side’s 34-30 Super League win over Bradford Bulls on Sunday, halved on appeal by the Rugby Football League’s disciplinary panel.

Chase will now lose his ever-present record this season when Castleford visit Welsh side Crusaders for Saturday’s Super League game.

However, the influential half-back can now play for the Tigers in their Challenge Cup quarter-final against Huddersfield Giants on Sunday week.
