HIGHLY rated young prop forward Jonathan Walker has recovered from a long term knee injury to take his place in the 19-man squad for Castleford Tigers’ opening Stobart Super League game at Salford City Reds on Saturday.
Walker is one of four props named, although the Tigers have three out injured in Craig Huby, Grant Millington and Paul Jackson as well as back row forward Steve Snitch and winger Nick Youngquest.
Head coach Ian Millward has picked all three of his hookers - Ryan Hudson, Daryl Clark and Adam Milner - but has said he will decide on one to leave out.
Three of the close season signings - winger/ centre Josh Griffin, back row Lee Mitchell and prop Steve Nash - are in line to make their competitive debuts for the Tigers in a game kicking off at the new Salford City Stadium at 6pm.
The squad is: Richard Owen, Joe Arundel, Kirk Dixon, Josh Griffin, Rangi Chase, Danny Orr, Jake Emmitt, Daryl Clark, Brett Ferres, Jonathan Walker, Stuart Jones, Adam Milner, Ryan Hudson, Lee Mitchell, Oliver Holmes, Nathan Massey, Ryan McGoldrick, Steve Nash, John Davies.
Tickets for Saturday’s match are available at the Tigers club shop, in Carlton Lanes, until 1pm tomorrow (Friday).
