Castleford Tigers head coach Daryl Powell believes Sunday’s testimonial game for Andy Lynch at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle is richly deserved.
Lynch will skipper a strong Tigers team taking on one of his former clubs, Bradford Bulls, in a game kicking off at 2.30pm.
Tigers boss Powell is pleased the game will give fans a chance to recognise the contribution of his pack leader Lynch to the club.
He said: “It’s fantastic that it’s a testimonial game for Andy Lynch. What a servant he has been to Castleford and all the clubs he’s played for and rugby league in general.
“You hold him in the same regard you do people like Jamie Peacock. He doesn’t get talked up as much as Jamie, but I see him as the same sort of player – real honest, committed, absolutely 100 per cent every game. A great professional and he deserves everything he will get from his testimonial.
“He was massive for us last year, not just as a player. It was what he brought to the club, his standards, the way he goes about his business on the training field on a day to day basis.
“From that perspective he was huge for us and he’ll continue in that way while ever he’s playing I’m sure.
“He’s been the foundation of our pack, along with Grant Millington. They’ve both been fantastic. Obviously they had good assistance from everybody else, but Lynchy was a real good solid part of what we did in our forward pack last year.
“He’ll captain the team so that will be special for him and hopefully he’ll come up with his usual non-stop performance.”
Tickets are on sale now from the Tigers Den club shop. Pre-match cost for adults is £15 with concessions £10 and on match day it will be adults £16, concessions £11.
