Castleford Tigers boss Daryl Powell is not concerned about the quick turnaround between games for his team this week as they go from Sunday’s game at Salford to another game on the road at London Broncos tomorrow night.
After being defeated for the first time this season on Sunday, Powell’s men will have had just four days rest as they travel to the Capital, in a match that will be televised.
The Sunday-Thursday fixture list was implemented at the start of this season, all sides will play in these matches throughout the campaign, but Powell says his side will relish the quick turnaround this time as they look to bounce back from their first defeat of the season.
He said: “We’re going to have to play Sunday and Thursday a few times as well as Easter. Whether it’s fair or not it’s something that’s in front of us so there’s no point in complaining, we’ve just got to get on with it.
“A day’s rest makes a difference to players, there’s no doubt about that and long term it will be interesting to see how it maps out with Sunday-Thursday games, in particular when you get into the season and players have played 20 odd games. It’s going to be interesting.
“Ultimately it’s what it is and this week we’re quite pleased to have a short turnaround based on what we delivered last week so it’s not a major issue for us at this point.”
