Castleford Tigers players Nathan Massey and Matt Cook have each been suspended for one game following incidents in the Salford game last Friday that attracted the Rugby League’s disciplinary body.
Massey appeared before an independent disciplinary tribunal tonight and was found guilty of Grade B reckless striking during the First Utility Super League round six fixture against Salford Red Devils at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle.
For Massey, who pleaded not guilty to recklessly striking Rangi Chase in the 33rd minute, it is his first-ever ban.
He was also fined £300 and said via Twitter that he was “gutted” to have been suspended.
He also revealed that Rangi Chase submitted a letter on his behalf to the tribunal.
Current Cas team-mate Cook will join Massey in missing Friday’s Hull game after he submitted an Early Guilty Plea for a Grade B striking offence against Salford.
Theo Fages, of Salford, received a two-match suspension for Grade C dangerous contact against Castleford.
