In-form duo Mike McMeeken and Denny Solomona have come in for praise from head coach Daryl Powell following their recent displays for Castleford Tigers in the First Utility Super League.
Both young players have become first team regulars after injury setbacks blighted their early weeks with Castleford following their move north from London Broncos and started all five of the Tigers’ games in their recent winning run as well as shining in the defeat at Hull last Sunday.
Powell is delighted with the progress both are making.
He said: “Mike McMeeken is turning into some kind of player.
“At Hull he played in the back row and when Jake Webster had to come off he went into the centres and was just as big a threat there.
“The way he’s going about his business at the moment he’s top quality.
“He’s a good defender, he’s got a good skills set, he’s a big man, he’s going really well. I’ve been really pleased with Mike.
“Denny Solomona is scoring tries for fun.
“He’s certainly got loads of pace.
“I keep talking to him about his work rate and his fitness, but when he gets an opportunity to finish he puts his foot down.
“He’s been outstanding and has been one of the best finishers in the business this season.”
