Sunday’s game against Catalans Dragons looks like coming too soon for him, but Oliver Holmes is set to deliver some good news for Castleford Tigers fans after returning to full training this week.
The highly respected back rower has missed the start of the Betfred Super League season after picking up a knee injury in pre-season, but is closing in on a return to the first team.
Head coach Daryl Powell does not expect to have any injured players back for the Catalans match, but is looking forward to the hard working Holmes being available soon.
He said: “Oli Holmes is getting closer. He’s back into training this week so we’ll gauge him and see how he is over the coming weeks.
“It will be good to have him back to increase competition in the forwards.”
