Castleford Tigers forward Scott Wheeldon is set to be out of action for up to three months following the knee injury he picked up in Castleford Tigers’ 28-0 defeat to Wigan Warriors.

Wheeldon is Castleford’s latest long term injury victim following Justin Carney, Matt Cook and Mike McMeeken, who have been out of action in recent weeks and face further time on the sidelines.

Cas also had Luke Dorn, Oliver Holmes, Nathan Massey, Scott Moore and Denny Solomona out with injuries against Wigan when Wheeldon suffered his setback.

Powell explained: “Scott Wheeldon got a bad injury and will be out for 10 to 12 weeks. He’s got a medial knee ligament injury.

“It’s disappointing for Scott, because he has been going okay for us.”
