Castleford Tigers have signed promising young forward Conor Fitzsimmons from the Cumbria RFL Academy.
Fitzsimmons, 17, initially joined the Tigers on a trial basis, but soon impressed his coaches and has been rewarded with an 18-month contract.
He is the third player from the RFL Regional Academy to sign for the Tigers following Will Maher and Brandon Moore.
On his signing, Fitzsimmons said: “I’m really happy to have signed here after my trial and I will be working hard and pushing to get into the first team.”
Tigers head of youth Pete Riding has been impressed by the young forward.
He said: “Conor is a very good addition to the squad. He has a great attitude and has all the ingredients to do well in the game.
“This is another success story in terms of the RFL’S Regional Academy program and further demonstrates our good relationship with Dave Clarke who is doing an outstanding job with the Cumbrian Regional Academy.”
