First team star Alex Foster says Castleford Tigers will not underestimate Salford Red Devils who journey to the Mend-A-Hose Jungle for a Betfred Super League clash on Sunday.
The Red Devils have lost three games and won only once so far, but Foster reckons they are a strong side and he and his team-mates are gearing up for a tough challenge as they look to continue their improvement after the opening round defeat.
He said: “I was really impressed with Salford last year. They played some good rugby and they’ve got some good players in that squad.
“We’d never take Salford for granted. We feel like it’s going to be a tough challenge and we feel like we are gearing up well for it.
“Against Widnes it wasn’t quite clicking, but if you saw some of the tries from the last match it looked a lot more like ourselves. We feel like each week we are improving collectively.”
Foster is not sure whether having the game at Hull KR postponed last week will be to the Tigers’ benefit or not as they take on Salford.
He added: “It is difficult to say at the moment.
“It has certainly not been ideal, we have really wanted to get a few wins behind us and having three wins behind us would have put us in really high spirits coming into the next block of games.
“But we have still got our minds set on the challenge in front of us and we’ve had a lot more preparation ahead of the Salford game.
“We have had a few more sessions to work on what we want to do in the game and I’d definitely say that’s a positive.”
