Flying winger Denny Solomona and hooker Scott Moore have been ruled out of the Castleford Tigers team for tomorrow night’s Super League clash with Wigan Warriors at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle.
Solomona picked up a knee injury in last week’s game at St Helens while Moore will serve a one-match suspension after admitting making Grade B dangerous contact to the limbs of Mose Masoe during the Tigers’ game against St Helens at Langtree Park last Friday.
Castleford boss Daryl Powell will also check on the fitness of prop Andy Lynch (groin) and full-back Jordan Tansey (calf) before finalising his final 17-man team after they picked up injuries in the Saints game.
With Ashley Gibson, Frankie Mariano and Lee Jewitt still out the Tigers could be without as many as seven senior players, but Powell remains philosophical about the problems he faces.
He told the Express: “Denny Solomona had a scan and it’s not quite as bad as we thought it might be, but he won’t be available this week.
“Andy Lynch will be a late test and Jordan Tansey as well.
“It’s a bit of a blow getting so many injuries so early, but that’s life and there’s no point worrying about it, you’ve just got to crack on.
“I’m hoping Ben Roberts will be all right. We’ll check on him this week to see how he is, but we’re hopeful and we’re going to need all hands on deck.
“With Scott getting a one-match ban Liam Finn has potential to play hooker, but Benny has played a bit of hooker as well and we’ll make a decision through the week.
“Luke Dorn is available and he will be in the squad, but I’ll have to wait until Thursday to make a decision on the 17, particularly with the Lynch injury.
