New signing Gareth O’Brien, goal kicking winger Kirk Dixon and prop Jake Emmitt have all been drafted into Castleford Tigers’ 19-man squad for the trip to Odsal to play Bradford Bulls on Saturday.

Tigers head coach Ian Millward has named Dixon in the squad after he has recovered early from his calf tear.

He has also included O’Brien, who has joined on loan from Warrington, but prop forward Keith Mason has been left out following a hamstring injury picked up before the Rhinos game last week and his progress will be reassessed next week.

O’Brien has been brought in on a month’s loan to replace Rangi Chase, who received a two match ban for a Grade B reckless strike on full-back Zak Hardaker in the 63rd minute of las Sunday’s fixture against Leeds Rhinos.

Millward explained the decision to sign the 21-year-old Warrington half-back: “I have been an admirer of Gareth’s for some time and Tony Smith speaks highly of him as both a person and a player.

“Warrington currently has no injuries in their half backs so they were happy to loan him out and give him some good playing experience.”

Emmitt is the third player to come into the squad, at the expense of Dan Fleming, after being left out last week when he played as a dual contract player for Keighley Cougars.

Kick-off at Odsal Stadium is 4.45pm.
