Castleford Tigers have appointed their head of youth development Steve Gill as interim chief executive following the shock resignation of Steve Ferres earlier this week.

Gill (pictured), 53, a former first team assistant coach, was appointed by chairman Jack Fulton to plug the gap caused by the sudden departure of Ferre, who resigned citing differences with the club’s board over changes that he believes need to be made.

“I would like to thank Steve for stepping forward to the breach at short notice, albeit on a temporary basis,” said Fulton.

“His dedication and devotion to the club is without question and I ask that the fans unite behind Steve and the club during this time.”
