FIRST team centre or winger Josh Griffin is set to leave Castleford Tigers after the club confirmed that they have been approached by rugby union side Leeds Tykes.
Griffin, who joined the Tigers from Wakefield for this season, is expected to sign for the Headingley-based side and will be released early from his contract.
With new signings Michael Shenton, Jake Webster, Jamie Ellis, Jordan Tansey, Lee Gilmour and Justin Carney all capabale of pl;aying the backs, Griffin was likely to find increased competition for his place next season.
The move will offer Tigers coach Ian Millward the opportunity to review squad options as he looks to further strengthen his team for next season.
Griffin is one of seven players set to leave the club who will be bidding farewell to the fans at their last home game this Sunday when Cas take on Catalans at the Probiz Coliseum.
“It will be a particularly emotional day on Sunday with seven players not contracted to the club for 2013 and some playing the last home game of their careers. We hope to give them all the send off they deserve,” said head coach Ian Millward.
After the game, there will be a lap of honour from the team as well as speeches on the pitch. There will also be another chance to bid farewell to Danny Orr in the marquee where he will speak to the fans and auction his playing boots to the highest bidder in aid of a charity close to his heart, Joining Jack.
