BACK row forward Oliver Holmes has become the latest of Castleford Tigers’ talented youngsters to commit himself to the club long ter m.
The 19-year-old former Normanton Knights junior (pictured) has put pen to paper on a three-year deal that will keep him at Castleford until at least the end of 2014.
He follows fellow homegrown talents Richard Owen, Adam Milner, Daryl Clark and Jordan Thompson in signing long-term deals with the club in the last six months and his signing has delighted head coach Ian Millward.
He said: “I’ve been really impressed with him in the first few weeks.
“He’s a nice personality, a very committed player and I like the way he moves. With his age he’s only going to grow both skills-wise and development-wise.
“I think it’s very astute of the club to get him tied down. It’s great that another local kid has committed to the club, another kid who had plenty of attention from other clubs.
I’m really pleased he’s signed and I’m looking forward to working with him in the future.”
Holmes made his Tigers first team debut in 2010, playing five games that season, and made 15 appearances last season, scoring one try.
