Knocked out Moore to miss Castleford’s trip to Hull KR

Concussed hooker Scott Moore will miss Friday night’s trip to Hull KR, but Castleford Tigers boss Daryl Powell hopes to have two players back to help in the bid to do the double over the Robins.

The Tigers beat Rovers 25-4 at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle in April and can open up a six-point gap on them if they can make it a repeat success at the KC Lightstream Stadium, but they will once again be without seven senior players.

Justin Carney, Luke Dorn, Ryan Bailey, Matt Cook, Scott Wheeldon and Frankie Mariano have all been ruled out and Moore joined the list of absentees this week when forced onto the sidelines after an accidental clash of heads briefly left him knocked out during the Magic Weekend game against Wakefield Wildcats.

He has recovered now, but will not be allowed to play under the rules forbidding players getting back into action after concussions.

However, Adam Milner, who suffered a broken nose in the Magic Weekend game, is expected to play and half-back Ben Roberts and forward Lee Jewitt are available again after missing the trip to Newcastle.

Head coach Powell explained: “Scott Moore won’t be available. He got knocked out last week and the six day protocol on concussion means he won’t be able to play.

“Hopefully Lee Jewitt will be back and we’ll check on him to see if he’s okay.

“Ben Roberts’ wife gave birth last week, which took him out of the game, but he should be available as well.

“I will look at how we shuffle the team around to make up for the loss of Scott Moore during the week.

“Adam Milner has a broken nose, but he should be okay to play so we should have one of our hookers available.”
