Consistent Castleford Tigers forward Nathan Massey has committed his future to the club by agreeing a new four-year extension to his contract.

The new deal will keep the player who came through the Tigers academy at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle until the end of the 2019 season.

Massey joined the Tigers’ at the young age of 15 and has risen through the youth ranks before making his first team debut in 2007.

He cemented his place in the Castleford first team after appearing in every game of the 2013 season. Injuries in 2014 derailed his development, but he bounced back with a solid 2015 where he appeared in 22 games, scoring two tries.

The 26-year-old forward has played more than 100 times for the Tigers in Super League and is delighted to be staying with his only professional club for the foreseeable future

He said: “I’m over the moon to finally have this deal sorted and in the bag.

“There have been lots of rumours about me leaving the club, but that has never crossed my mind.

“Despite having interest from here and overseas Cas is the place I want to be at.

“I’m extremely proud to play for this club and I’m sure in the next few years silverware will be coming our way.

“I’m excited at the prospect of the coming season and can’t wait to get stuck into pre season.”

Tigers head coach Daryl Powell holds the loose forward in high regard.

He said: “I’m delighted that Nathan has extended his deal at the club. I think it is clear to see the way that he plays that he loves playing at Cas.

“His drive and determination as a player will be massive for us moving forward into next season and beyond.

“Nathan is hugely respected by everyone in the changing room and on the coaching staff and this deal reflects the high regard we have for him.”

Chief executive Steve Gill was delighted to confirm the news: “Nathan has been one of our most consistent performers over the past two seasons, he’s a great lad both on and off the pitch.

“It’s fantastic news for the club to commit someone of Nathan’s calibre long term to Castleford Tigers.

“We’re all really excited and can’t wait for the 2016 season to begin.”
