Temporary head coach Danny Orr praised his players and took plenty of positives out of Castleford Tigers’ defeat to Leeds Rhinos in the Tetley’s Challenge Cup fourth round.
He said: “I can’t fault their effort, they were absolutely outstanding. To come here and play the way they did I’m quite proud of them.
“There are a lot of positives for us. A lot of the lads played really well, we just need to be a little bit better. We weren’t that far off.
“I felt the first half went according to plan and finished the stronger of the two teams.
“We knew they would come out strong in the second half but we got back in it with a try from Jamie Ellis.
“After that they raised their game a little bit and we didn’t go with them.”
Orr praised the performance of full-back Jordan Tansey in particular as he starred against the Leeds club where he started.
He added: “It was probably his best game - his kicking and running game was really good and I thought he pulled off some great tackles.
“The tackle he made on Ryan Hall when he went through - nine times out of 10 we all know what happens there so for him to pull him down there was a great tackle. His last-man defence was pretty good.”
