Castleford Tigers head coach Daryl Powell is pleased to see two players from his club selected in the 2015 First Utility Super League Dream Team and believes there could have been more.
Powell paid tribute to centre Michael Shenton and scrum-half Luke Gale after their efforts over the season were rewarded with inclusion in the Dream Team this week.
He said: “I am pleased for both of them and we could probably have had a couple more in.
“Grant Millington and Andy Lynch will have been pretty close, but I do understand there’s good players all over the competition.
“Luke Gale has been pretty good for most of the year. He started a bit slowly, but he has been a growing influence and he has had a big year. He is still improving and I think there’s more to come from him.
“Shenny has been superb as a leader and a captain. He is an outstanding defender and he has so much influence on the way we play. He has also had a big year.”
Castleford players are having reviews this week with the coaching staff and will then be off until November 9, when pre-season training begins.
Powell said: “We have got a bit of work to do, just to change us and our mentality. I feel like we really need to step up next season.
“We need a good start and pre-season is going to be key.”
