Head coach Daryl Powell is delighted to see six of his Castleford Tigers players earn England call-ups this week and is backing more to potentially force their way into the international set up.
Adam Milner received his first call-up to the England Elite Performance squad, alongside teammates Mike McMeeken and Luke Gale, who are on the comeback trail from injury.
Back rower Oliver Holmes has been added to the England Knights training squad, making up a trio of Tigers with Jake Trueman and Greg Minikin keeping their places in this squad from earlier in the season.
“It’s great news to see the Castleford players in the England squads,” said Tigers boss Powell.
“In the senior squad Adam Milner being added to that is fantastic. It’s massive for him and he’s been a developing player at top level for a few years now.
“It’s a big tick in the box for him that he’s got an opportunity now to get in the squad for the Test series against the Kiwis at the end of the year.”
On whether there were more Castleford players knocking on the England door, Powell added: “We’ve got a lot of good players and there’s more than can force their way in if they have a big finish to the season.
“Paul McShane’s had a really good season. Last week probably wasn’t one of his best, but he’s a player who could be in or around there.
“It’s there for a few players. If they have an outstanding end to the season that’s going to get seen.
“We’ve got plenty of good players and they need to finish the season well. If we can achieve something special this year then everyone will have to have a look at that.”
