Although he still officially remains a Castleford Tigers player Denny Solomona has been registered by rugby union team Sale Sharks for their Champions Cup squad.
Director of rugby Steve Diamond confirmed Sale’s interest in the winger last month, stating he had resigned from rugby league, but Castleford’s stance is that he is still their player and they have been backed by the Rugby Football League in the dispute that has developed.
The Tigers are taking legal action against Solomona after he failed to report for pre-season training and was seen at Sale instead.
Solomona was a big hit at Castleford last season when he broke the record for the most tries in a Super League season and he is contracted to the club until 2018.
Tigers are still declining to comment, but chief executive Steve Gill confirmed in October that three bids for Solomona had been turned down.
