CASTLEFORD’S young squad lost all three matches in the opening round of the Rugby League 9s at Hull KR on Tuesday evening.
The Tigers, playing in the competition’s Eastern Division, were beaten by Hull FC, hosts Hull KR and Wakefield Wildcats.
They were pipped 20-16 by Hull FC in the first game and went down 18-8 to Hull KR before losing the final match 12-4 to Wakefield.
Castleford will host the second round of the competition at Probiz Coliseum next Tuesday when they take on Hull KR, Huddersfield Giants and Wakefield.
Featherstone’s youngsters gave a good account of themselves in Tuesday’s opening round at Bigfellas Stadium when they played Bradford Bulls, Leeds Rhinos and Huddersfield.
Rovers lost 22-12 to Bradford and were edged out 26-18 by Leeds but they ended the evening on a high note by defeating Huddersfield 22-18 in the final game.
