CASTLEFORD Tigers pair Ryan McGoldrick (pictured) and Richard Owen are inching closer to first team action, but will not be considered for this Saturday’s home Super League game against Catalan Dragons.

Tigers coach Terry Matterson said:: “Ryan McGoldrick is coming along, but he won’t be available. We’ve got the opportunity to get him 100 per cent fit. He wasn’t 100 per cent for the majority of last year and we had to play him.

“But we’re in a position now where we don’t have to play him 80 per cent fit, which is probably where’s he’s at. He would be able to play if we need him to, but wouldn’t be able to play at his best so we’re going to make sure we get him right.

“Richie Owen came through his second game in the 20s fine, but it’s going to be a process.

“This week he’ll have off from playing and he can do some really tough training. It’s going to take him a little bit to get up to speed, but I’m really pleased with how he is after the games.”
