Wakefield Trinity Wildcats have completed the signing of Richard Owen from rivals Castleford Tigers for the remainder of the 2014 season.
Owen, 24, joins after 111 Super League appearances for Castleford in which he has scored 56 tries including six in his five appearances in 2014.
Owen reported for training at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium today, Thursday, and will provide an extra option for Trinity head coach Richard Agar in the outside backs ahead of Sunday’s meeting with the Tigers at Magic Weekend.
“It’s been really good,” said Owen of his first day as a Wildcats player.
“I know a few of the players from playing against them and they’ve been very welcoming.
“I did eight years at Castleford and it’s a new start and a new challenge. I think it’s what I needed and it’ll do me the world of good.
“It’s a growing club here. They haven’t had the best of starts and are just starting to hit some form. It’s something I want to be part of.”
Wildcats chairman, Michael Carter, said: “We’re really pleased to welcome Richard to the club and I’d like to go on record to thank Steve Gill and Castleford Tigers for their part in helping make this deal a smooth one.”
