Life-long Castleford Tigers fan Wayne Turner has won Brut’s ‘Fan of Pride’ Award for his passion and dedication to supporting the club he describes as being “in his blood”.
Born and raised in Castleford, Tigers Together member Wayne moved some 60 miles to Lincoln a few years ago, but he has not let distance come between him and his support of the Tigers.
Whether home or away, come rain or shine, Wayne makes sure he is standing on the terrace cheering on his beloved Cas.
This dedication to the club extends beyond match attendance as Wayne is a member of Tigers Together, a group which helps the Cas behind the scenes by raising money for and promoting the club in any way it can.
On being shortlisted and ultimately chosen as Castleford Tigers’ Brut Fan of Pride, Wayne said: “To be chosen by Craig Huby (Fan of Pride player ambassador and shortlisting judge) in the initial panel was amazing; that was good enough for me. But to be then chosen by fellow fans is absolutely fantastic.
“I can’t describe the feeling that from all the Castleford fans, I have been chosen as the Brut Fan of Pride – it’s absolutely amazing.”
Fan of Pride Castleford Tigers player ambassador Craig Huby said: “I’d like to pass on my congratulations to Wayne on winning the Castleford Tigers Brut Fan of Pride.
“He stood out to me during the nomination process so I’m pleased that he has been acknowledged by his fellow Cas supporters.
“The club is very grateful to its fans and volunteers who dedicate a lot of time and effort to helping the club succeed in any way that they can. Wayne epitomises that and I hope that he enjoys his prizes as he definitely deserves them.”
By winning Brut’s Fan of Pride Award for Castleford Tigers, Wayne will enjoy a day out at the Super League Grand Final at Old Trafford in October, as well as some Brut product.
