CASTLEFORD Tigers centre Jordan Thompson has joined Co-operative Championship club York City Knights on a one-month loan deal.

The 19-year old (pictured) scored four tries in 15 Super League appearances for the Tigers last season.

He ended 2010 on a high by helping England Academy to a Test series win over the Australian Schoolboys.

Thompson has not figured in Castleford’s squads for their opening two Engage Super League matches so far this season and joins York for first-team match fitness and experience.

He will remain in full time training with the Tigers first-team squad.

He joins two other Castleford players at York. John Davis is on loan and Nathan Massey is dual registered.

Tigers coach Terry Matterson said: “We feel Jordan needs to play at Championship level to continue to develop his game and with Nathan and John already at York it was a great opportunity for him to gain some first team experience.”
