Young Castleford Tigers player Jordan Howden has left the club to join League One side Doncaster.

The 19-year-old stand-off was given the number 29 shirt in the Cas squad for 2015, but spent most of the campaign on loan with York City Knights, for who he scored eight tries.

He will link up again with his former academy boss Gary Thornton who is now head coach at the Dons, who are looking to mount a promotion campaign from League One next year following relegation.

Thornton said: “I have seen Jordan develop through the junior ranks of Castleford Tigers Academy and have always admired his skill levels and attitude to playing and training.

“He is a very talented young player and is equally comfortable at stand-off or full-back.

“Last year he gained valuable experience in League One for York City Knights, where he was a regular top performer for them and they are very disappointed to be losing him.

“I targeted Jordan as a player I wanted to bring in early in our recruitment phase, and I am delighted he has decided to join us.

“I’m confident he will really fulfil his potential over the coming season and will be another exciting addition to our squad.”
