FEATHERSTONE Rovers have been given a big boost with news that back-rower Matty Dale’s facial injury is not as serious as first feared.

Dale (pictured), who was injured in Friday’s 66-0 defeat against Leeds Rhinos in Rob Burrow’s testimonial match, is likely to be fit for Featherstone’s opening Northern Rail Cup match at Oldham on February 12.

Rovers coach Daryl Powell said today: “We initially thought Matty had broken his jaw.

“He has a bad cut to his face that has been stitched inside and out. He’s had a couple of teeth taken out as well.

“He needs some reconstructive work on his teeth but thankfully he hasn’t broken his jaw.”
