FEATHERSTONE Rovers retained top spot in the Co-operative Championship by pipping Batley Bulldogs 31-28 in Sunday's Championship game at Bigfellas Stadium.

Trailing 24-12 at half-time, Batley levelled at 24-24 before Rovers got the edge in a tremendous match that was a great advert for Championship rugby.

In the end, both sides scored five tries and Featherstone won with Liam Finn's 60th minute touchdown and his six goals that included a drop goal.

Finn's half-back partner Andy Kain (pictured) was also a key figure with a first-half hat-trick of tries as Rovers bagged their 11th win on the trot.

Jon Grayshon was Featherstone's other try scorer.

Batley's Ben Black scored two tries and Gareth Moore landed four goals.

Ex-Rovers player Danny Maun, Ian Preece and Alex Brown also crossed for the Bulldogs.
