JOSH Hardcastle is the new leader in the race to be Featherstone’s top try scorer this season.

Hardcastle and Scott Turner both scored twice against Dewsbury Rams last Saturday.

It took Hardcastle’s tally to 10, one more than Turner and Chris Ulugia, who missed the Dewsbury match through injury.

Former Sheffield player Turner has now scored two tries in each of Featherstone’s last three games against Dewsbury, Halifax and Rochdale Hornets.

He reached a career century of touchdowns in the Challenge Cup sixth round win against Halifax.

Ex-Featherstone Lions centre Hardcastle’s rich vein of scoring form has seen him grab six touchdowns in the last five games.

Full-back Ian Hardman is close behind the top three players with eight tries while Jason Walton and Luke Briscoe have both scored six.

Cory Aston notched his 100th point for Featherstone on his tenth appearance for the club in the 52-10 win against Dewsbury.

Half-back Aston, who is on loan from Leeds Rhinos, took his points tally to 111 with six goals from 11 kicks at LD Nutrition Stadium on Saturday evening.

The 22-year-old has now kicked 48 goals, including a drop goal, and scored four tries for Featherstone.
