Featherstone Rovers half back Andy Kain has signed for Kingstone Press Championship rivals Hunslet Hawks on a two-year contract.
Kain, 29, joined Featherstone Rovers from Widnes Vikings on loan in 2007. The deal was then made permanent in 2008.
He has been one of the most prolific try scorers in Featherstone’s history with 129 tries in 210 apprearances and has played for Rovers in five Grand Finals.
Kain, who scored 12 tries in 26 appearances for Rovers last season, was under contract with the club for 2015 but both parties have agreed a release so he can continue his career at the Hawks.
Rovers chief executive Pat Cluskey said: “Andy has been a great servant to Rovers and his record speaks for itself, particularly his try scoring record.
“Andy is at the stage of his career where he needs regular rugby and that is not something we could guarantee going forward. We would like to thank Andy for his successful time at the club and everyone wishes him well for the future.”
Hunslet Hawks director of rugby Darren Williams said: “I would personally like to thank Mark Campbell (Rovers chairman)who as in the George Flanagan move has been very accommodating in facilitating this move, Andy has been a tremendous servant to Featherstone and leaves the club on good terms and were thrilled to add him to our 2015 squad.”
