WINGER Bryn Powell bagged two tries on his second Featherstone Rovers debut in Sunday’s 36-22 win over Gateshead Thunder at Bigfellas Stadium.

Powell, who has rejoined the club from Dewsbury Rams, crossed twice in the first-half as Rovers, fielding mainly a second string side, built a match-winning 30-0 interval lead in their second pre-season victory.

Full-back Tom Carr is pictured putting Rovers on their way to a seven-try victory by plunging over for the opening score after seven minutes. Carr also kicked four goals.

Featherstone’s other try scorers were Jamie Milburn, Greg Worthington, Ryan Gaunt and Davi Garahan.

Gateshead staged a spirited second-half recovery to score five tries in the last 34 minutes in new head coach Richard Pell’s first match in charge.
