FORMER Great Britain winger Gareth Raynor scored two second-half tries on his third Featherstone Rovers appearance in Sunday’s 26-24 win at Swinton Lions in the Co-operative Championship.

The 34-year-old (pictured), who made his Rovers bow in January’s pre-season match at Leeds and his competitive debut the following month against Dewsbury Rams in the Northern Rail Cup, rescued Featherstone when they were in grave danger of a shock defeat.

They trailed 18-10 at half-time and were 24-20 down with just three minutes left until Sam Smeaton sent in Raynor for his second touchdown and Liam Finn added the winning conversion to finish with three goals from five kicks.

Finn scored two tries and Smeaton also crossed for Rovers in a win that puts them level on points with leaders Halifax.
