Coach Jon Sharp admitted Featherstone “looked a bit scratchy” in last Sunday’s 24-10 win against National One side Hunslet Hawks.
He is looking for a better display in Rovers’ final pre-season match against Leeds Rhinos at Big Fellas Stadium on Sunday.
“I’m looking for improvement on Sunday after our performance against Hunslet Hawks last weekend,” said Sharp.
“I was disappointed with some aspects of our play and to be honest we looked a bit disjointed. You could tell that some of our combinations were playing for the first time so in an attacking sense, we looked a bit scratchy.
“On a positive note, we defended well and improved since the Wakefield game which was something I was particularly looking for. We put ourselves under a lot of pressure due to number of mistakes we were making and the players defended well for long periods.
“Some players played a bit longer than anticipated and were suffering from fatigue but they dug deep. The blokes are still in pre-season and training exceptionally hard, on Friday evening they were doing extra weights for example so it’s a tough period for them.
“I was particularly in impressed with Kyran Johnson, Danny Craven showed ability in his kicking game and I thought Jamie Cording had one of his best performances in a Rovers shirt.”
