A presentation will be made at Featherstone Rovers on Sunday to the family of Ernest Barraclough who played in the club’s first match as a professional club 95 years ago.
Prop forward Barraclough featured in a 17-3 win at Bradford Northern on August 27, 1921.
The line-ups, scorers and result of every match since Featherstone turned professional has been documented by the Post Office Road club along with the full playing record of everyone who has appeared for the club.
It has seen every player being awarded a Rovers heritage number.
Barraclough has been awarded heritage number one.
Barraclough’s granddaugter Jane Ratcliffe recently contacted Rovers to try to find out a bit more about her grandfather.
Jane and her two brothers will attend Sunday’s home match against Batley Bulldogs on Sunday as guests of the club and will be presented with Ernest’s heritage certificate on the pitch at half-time.
