UNBEATEN leaders Featherstone Rovers recorded their sixth straight win in the Reserves Championship by beating Halifax 28-10 at The Shay.

Rovers performed excellently in their toughest test this season against a strong Halifax team that included five first-team players.

Halifax scored first but Rovers responded superbly with outstanding defensive work and excellent handling skills.

Featherstone pressure was rewarded when Tom Carr went over.

They foiled Halifax with magnificent tackling before Nat Browne crossed to put them 10-4 up at the break.

Halifax levelled in the second-half but Rovers then stepped up a gear to take control.

Aaron Lyons finished an excellent move and Carr converted to put them back ahead.

Tom Hemingway grabbed a 45-yard try before a move that started in Featherstone’s own ‘20’ saw Hemingway pave the way for Nathan Chappell to collect a try that Carr again improved.

Rovers reserve head coach Danny Evans (pictured) praised the entire squad for their hard work, effort and attitude.

Featherstone: Carr, Kirk, Lyons, Chappell, Browne, Perkins, Hemingway, Jones, Nurse, Harper, Muvududu, Ormondroyd, Mackay, Pearson, Kitchen, Tate, Beddis.
