FEATHERSTONE Rovers will unveil "a major new signing" at Sunday's final pre-season home match against Oldham.
A club spokesman said: "The signing is another statement of intent of how ambitious Featherstone Rovers are in building on the success of 2011.
"We feel the signing will not only galvanise our supporters but also signal to the world of Rugby League that we really mean business."
Meanwhile, Rovers have announced they are in sight of their target of selling 1,000 season tickets for the new season.
More than 700 season tickets have been sold with approximately 30 per cent of sales to new ticket holders.
If Rovers reach their target of 1,000 they will reward all their season ticket holders with one free ticket for their first home Northern Rail Cup game against Dewsbury Rams on Sunday, February 19.
If the target is reached, all season ticket holders will also be entered into a prize draw for a VIP experience at the 2012 Challenge Cup final.
Rovers coach Daryl Powell said: "Both myself and the players are delighted with the growth in season ticket sales to date. It would be great if we could achieve our first club target of 1,000 season tickets before the season kicks off.
"We are determined to attack the season right from the start and look forward to seeing our fan base grow throughout 2012. Last season the support of our team was superb and we look forward to more of the same this year."
Rovers chairman Mark Campbell said: "We are really encouraged with our season ticket sales but there is no point setting a target and then falling short.
"Having 1,000 season ticket holders would be a tremendous statement of intent by the club and our supporters that we are committed to build on the progress the club has made in recent years.
"We have also set the ambitious target of averaging 3,000 spectators at throughout the course of 2012. This will allow the club to invest significantly further in the playing squad and the club grow to ultimately apply for Super League franchise."
