FEATHERSTONE’S new home shirts for 2012 will be unveiled shortly.

Rovers chief executive Simon Riley said: “The new home kit will definitely be available before Christmas and we’ll be doing a launch before then. The kit is all approved and it’s very attractive.

“We want to maximise the impact of it and have a feel-good factor about the new home shirts and then we’ll do the same with the away shirts when those arrive later.

“We are again with sportswear manufacturers Macron and we have a very good relationship with them. Both the home and away shirts are exciting new designs.”

The RFL has confirmed that all clubs in the Championship and Championship One will stop using squad numbers and revert to the traditional 1-17 shirts next season.

Mr Riley said: “For us, as we try to keep developing as a club and try to be as professional as possible in all aspects, we are a bit disappointed to be honest.

“We are certainly not going to lose any sleep over it but we actually quite liked the names and the squad numbers on the shirts.

“But it’s not going to make a massive difference. A number of people have said it will save us money on players’ kit but it really doesn’t to be honest because you’ve still got to have that squad and everyone is quite unique in their size etc.”

Meanwhile, the Rovers 2011 champions edition yearbook is on sale priced £10 from the club shop and online.

The book gives a full account of the season with reports on each match, plus all the club’s off-field activities, leading up to the Co-operative Championship Grand Final victory against Sheffield Eagles. Each player in the first-team squad is featured with a full page colour photograph. The book has full statistics for the season and and there are articles by club chairman Mark Campbell and head coach Daryl Powell.
