WINGER Bryn Powell (pictured) scored a first-half hat-trick as Featherstone Rovers opened up a three-point gap at the top of the Co-operative Championship with a 34-6 win against Sheffield Eagles at Bigfellas Stadium on Thursday evening.

Rovers secured a comfortable victory despite converting only one of their eight tries.

Liam Finn goaled his own try after 74 minutes for his solitary success from six kicks while Stuart Dickens missed with two attempts.

Powell got Featherstone off to a great start with a second-minute try, but the Eagles took the lead when Simon Brown converted Misi Taulapapa’s 18th-minute touchdown.
