Featherstone coach Jon Sharp welcomes Darrell Griffin to Big Fellas Stadium.

Featherstone Rovers have signed 34-year-old prop Darrell Griffin on a two-year contract.

The former England international made nearly 100 appearances for Wakefield Wildcats and 140 appearances for Huddersfield Giants.

He has also played for Leeds Rhinos and more recently for Salford Red Devils where he made 19 appearances last season.

He links up again with Rovers head coach Jon Sharp after they worked together at Huddersfield Giants.

Sharp said: “I am delighted to have been able to bring Darrell to Featherstone as he will add another dimension to our pack. I signed Darrell from Wakefield Wildcats when I was at Huddersfield where he developed in to an England international. He has a fantastic work ethic, trains very hard and looks after himself. I remember at the Giants he would also do extra training sessions and I know this is something he has carried on throughout his career since our time together.

“He brings experience to our front row and his dedication to the sport will benefit some of the younger members of our squad who will be able learn from Darrell both in training and on the field. He is a leader of the pack and I am looking forward to seeing Griffin in a Featherstone Rovers shirt in 2016.”

Griffin said: “Jon is a great coach and I really enjoyed my time with him at the Giants where I significantly improved under his coaching. I was still relatively new to rugby league when I joined Huddersfield and a bit raw but I really developed under his guidance. He is very smart and technical and I am looking forward to working with him again at Featherstone.

“I know a few of the boys here and I am really impressed with the facilities that we have, the Stadium is fantastic and the Centre of Excellence is the best facility I have seen in rugby league and I was really surprised when I looked around them. It is important we utilise these facilities and under the leadership of Jon, I think the club is really going places and I want to be a part of that. I am looking forward to getting to know the blokes better and working hard in pre-season as we prepare for an important season.”
