FEATHERSTONE Rovers kick off the 2012 season with a trip to Oldham in the Northern Rail Cup on Sunday, February 12.

Featherstone host Dewsbury Rams and Batley Bulldogs and visit Halifax in their other three NRC group matches.

Rovers will be out for revenge against Halifax who pipped them 31-30 with a ‘golden point’ drop goal in extra time in the semi-finals of last season’s tournament.

Featherstone coach Daryl Powell (pictured) said: “The Northern Rail Cup is a competition we’ve been keen to do well in every season.

“We have got to two semi-finals and we haven’t been able to take that final step and that’s what we are looking for next season, to take the next step.”

Featherstone, bidding to finish top of the Co-operative Championship for a third successive year, start their league campaign by visiting newly-promoted Keighley Cougars on Sunday, March 11 (2pm).

Rovers host Leigh centurions in their first home fixture the following Thursday evening, March 15 (7.30). The match will be shown live on Premier Sports.
