CHAMPIONS Featherstone made a winning start to their Co-operative Championship campaign by recovering from 8-6 down at half-time to beat newly-promoted Keighley Cougars 22-12 at Cougar Park this afternoon (Sunday).

Ian Hardman's ninth minute try and the first of Liam Finn's three goals put Rovers ahead but Keighley hit back to lead at the break when Danny Lawton crossed after 25 minutes and Danny Jones kicked two goals.

Featherstone stormed back in the second period.

Anthony England powered through for a 53rd minute try and Sam Smeaton (pictured) then grabbed two tries in four minutes to put the visitors 22-8 up.

The Cougars salvaged a bonus point when Semi Tadulala scored two minutes from time.
