FEATHERSTONE Rovers have received another boost with news that GMB Union Yorkshire and North Derbyshire region has extended its sponsorship deal with the club for 12 months.
GMB Union will again have a prominent logo on next season’s playing kit.
Rovers commercial manager Paul Taylor said: “Over the last few weeks we have announced a number of new sponsorship deals as well as extensions with our valued existing partners. We will be announcing more agreements in due course before we kick off our 2012 campaign.
“It’s fantastic that organisations such as the GMB Union and our other sponsors are supporting what we are doing at Featherstone Rovers. We hope this is a further indication that the club is not standing still and we hope this provides a further incentive for our supporters to either renew their season ticket or become a new member to enable us to hit our target of 1,000 season ticket holders in 2012.”
GMB Union have been a main partner of Featherstone Rovers for several seasons and this year strengthened its partnership with the club by holding a GMB Union day at a home match against French club Toulouse. Also, the club’s learning facility is now known as the Featherstone Rovers GMB Union Learning Centre.
Mr Taylor said: “We are delighted that the GMB Union Yorkshire and North Derbyshire Region has agreed to remain a main partner of the club in 2012. They are a loyal sponsor and appreciate the work that we do off the field developing our community activity as well our on the field progress.
“Featherstone Rovers also appreciate the work GMB Union Sports section are doing through the Rugby League Players’ Association and are delighted to be associated with their activities. The partnership is an example of how sports sponsorship can be mutually beneficial to both organisations and we are proud that the GMB Union choose to support the club.”
Geoff Burrow, GMB Sports branch secretary, said: “The partnership with Featherstone Rovers ideally fits with the ethos of the GMB Trade Union in terms of us reaching out to communities, players and staff.
“We have been involved with Featherstone Rovers for over five years now and the club have superbly engaged with us in terms of our ULF learning projects, player welfare and by working with us to offer players and staff the opportunity to learn new skills for their future career after sport.
The GMB sponsorship has meant that GMB members from other branches throughout the region can join us and use the superb hospitality package available in order to meet socially and be treated to first class cuisine and then to watch the “Champions” play fantastic rugby league. The hospitality acts as a great social gathering for our members. The partnership has also meant that we have significantly increased membership into the RLPA and other GMB branches”.
