Featherstone Rovers hope to have centre Greg Worthington back for Sunday’s Kingstone Press Championsdhip clash against York City Knights at Big Fellas Stadium.
Worthington (pictured) has missed the last two games with a calf injury but interim head coach Ryan Sheridan is optimistic that he will be fit for this weekend.
“There is a strong possibility Greg could be back,” said Sheridan.
“He has been struggling with a calf injury but his training has picked up over the last week. He is working hard to get back to shape and he’ll be a welcome addition back.
“We got through last Sunday’s game unscathed so hopefully we’ll have a full squad to pick from.”
Rovers will aim to bounce from last Sunday’s 22-12 home defeat against Leigh in the Northern Rail Cup. They will also be looking to avenge a shock 24-16 defeat at York two months ago.
“We didn’t perform well at all when we played at York,” added Sheridan.
“It was one of our worst displays this season but we’ll be focused and ready for them this weekend. We know what sort of threats they pose.
“We are looking forward to the game. It can’t come round quick enough for us.
“We are just looking for quality performances from week to week. It’s a tough league and there’s a lot happening at the top. There are some quality teams and each game is a challenge and we’ve got to make sure we rise to each one of those.”
